What is “fierce”?

It is from the Latin word “ferus” meaning untamed!
For me this means uncivilized or not allowing the WORLD to change who you were meant to be. Animals in a zoo have lost their ferocity because they have been changed by forces outside of their control.
Will we live like we are in a zoo? Will we allow forces outside of our control to TAME us and makes us live a life of mediocrity?
